Brussels, 15th March 2004 - Proserve, one of the 5 leading housing and hosting companies in The Netherlands, makes services available on the Belgian market. In The Netherlands, more than 520 clients benefit from the services of ProServe for a total of 2000 servers on which more than 150.000 web sites are hosted (indirectly). Part of the customer base is made up of Belgian companies.

This extension into Belgian took place in two stages: The connection to BNIX (Belgian Nation Internet Exchange), which constituted the first phase, allowed ProServe to become, a year later, part of the top 5 in terms of peerings. The extension continues through a housing facility at LCL in Diegem. ProServe occupies a complete customer space of approximately 40 m² with around twenty server racks at LCL.

Gerben van der Veen, Managing Director of ProServe explains: "We wish to be close to our customers and when we noticed that our existing Belgian customers brought more and more servers to our datacenter in Amsterdam, we decided that it could be interesting to install an own colocation centre in Brussels. After having established the wishes and requirements of these customers we examined the possibilities and we will be offering our services in Belgium from the end of March".

According to Laurens van Reijen, Managing Director of LCL: "ProServe's experience in terms of datacenters in The Netherlands means that our colocation centre has been very minutely evaluated. We are, therefore, particularly satisfied to perceive that our centre has been established as being the best colocation centre in the evaluation."

Gerben van der Veen adds: "We have carefully prepared our arrival, we are starting with a completely redundant network and we have also invested in new routers so as to be able to offer both to our existing and future customers a high level of reliability, identical to the level available in The Netherlands".

Thanks to the arrival of ProServe, LCL hopes that a large portion of the Belgian web sites and their contents hosted in Paris and Amsterdam will now come back to Belgium.
